The The World Agroforestry Centre is one of a network of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). As a global leader in agroforestry research and development, ICRAF’s ultimate purpose is to improve human welfare by reducing poverty, increasing cash income, improving food and nutritional security, and increasing environmental resilience through improved agroforestry systems. ICRAF has it’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and works in 21 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America.

In 1993, the World Agroforestry Centre opened a program for Southeast Asia with Bogor, in Indonesia, as its regional headquarters. We currently work in five Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and China.

TOR: Junior Project Officer
The Position. Under the guidance of the Functional Unit Leader (FUL) of Policy Analyst Unit (POLAN), The Project Officer will be providing support to the implementation of project activities. She/he will be assigned and responsible on the implementation of projects under POLAN. In direct coordination with the FUL and Policy Analyst of POLAN, she/he will also work closely with the relevant stakeholders involved, and will report to the FUL on daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in managing daily project activities
Prepare ToR for consultants and partners in conducting research or other services, manage their contracts and review the reports
Assist in donor relation (donor communication and consultation, progress report, program evaluation, donor mission)
Assist in preparing project annual reports (technical and financial), annual work-plan and budget
Assist in developing proposal
Monitor funding level and be responsible to manage project expenses
Arranging, managing and monitor collaboration with partners to carry out capacity building trainings, workshops, and researches
Involve in project evaluation at project end.
Collaborate with partners (sharing knowledge, jointly conducting activities or proposals)
Attend and present project results in meetings, workshops, seminars as requested by FUL.
Develop and manage e-learning capacity building and research website.
Assist the implementation of communication strategy within the unit network as requested by Functional Unit Leader.
Write articles for Southeast Asia Tales, Kiprah Agroforestri and other relevant media.
Acting as facilitator in research workshops
Involved in project related researches as requested by Functional Unit Leader
Other related tasks assigned by Unit Leader
At least 3 (three) years of relevant experience, preferably on climate change and rural development.
Experience in working with not-for-profit organizations and government institutions.
Research on natural resource management background will be an advantage
Good networking skills and knowledge on local and national NGOs in Indonesia
Excellent communication skills both in English and Bahasa Indonesia (reading, writing, verbal and presentation).
Computer literate (on Window based-systems including Excel and ACCESS).,

Vacancy: Bali MPA Network Coordinator

Bali MPA Network Coordinator

This position is based in Bali and may occasionally travel to Jakarta or other places when necessary. The primary responsibility of the Bali Marine Protected Area (MPA) Network Coordinator is to lead an initiative to design and facilitate the establishment of a functional MPA network for Bali Island, starting in the Nusa Penida Islands. She/he will collaborate with Bali Goverment (province and regencies) and CI Indonesia main partners including community, local government, private sectors, and other non-government organizations.  The MPA Coordinator is also responsible to generate broad stakeholder support of the MPAs, oversee the gazettement and implementation of the MPAs including designation of zonation systems and overall management plans, and design a long-term sustainable financing plan for the MPAs. The Bali MPA Network Coordinator will work closely with the CI Indonesia Marine Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Socialize the MPA network concept and benefit of fisheries and non-extractive economic benefits of MPAs to all stakeholders in Bali, including Nusa Penida Islands, in cooperation with our main conservation partners and utilizing both formal courses and other outreach media;
  2. Facilitate necessary activities to reach the objective of establishing a functional Bali MPA network, with the start in Nusa Penida Islands MPA including gazettement process, advocate policy to support MPA gazettement, and designation of MPA zoning system Provide technical assistance and facilitate the development of local capacity to manage Nusa Penida Islands MPA;
  3. Facilitate the process of and provide technical assistance to stakeholders to develop long-term management plan and management structure of proposed Nusa Penida Islands MPA;
  4. Facilitate the process to attain broad agreement on management body of the MPAs;
  5. Provide technical assistance and facilitate the development of local capacity to manage Nusa Penida Islands MPA;
  6. Facilitate the development of sustainable financing scenario for the proposed Bali MPA network;
  7. Prepare regular reports on the progress of proposed MPA establishment and implementation.

Required Skills and Capabilities:

The successful candidate is expected to have the following attributes:

  • Master’s degree and/or at least 5 years working experience on facilitating the process of MPA establishment, coastal and marine conservation management
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong technical command of fisheries benefits of MPAs
  • Strong ability to manage group process and dynamics
  • Good command of English (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Knowledge/understanding of local cultural setting
  • Ability to work with teams
  • Ability to write reports
  • Creative thinker
